Back to the Blog

I tried to write a post the other day, but accidentally deleted it. So here's a summary.

I think employers need to treat their employees like adults. Unless they are hiring high school kids, college interns, or other really young people, under 21, there is NO reason for HR departments to get all up in my grill. I'm an adult. Treat me like one, and I will act like one.

Monitoring internet access for one thing. If I'm getting my work done, who cares if I'm checking my personal email in between? It makes me happy. A happy worker = a productive worker.

A good friend of mine got in trouble recently for napping during her lunch break, in private break room. It was her time, a private space, it wasn't bothering anyone, until a receptionist walk in and found her there, fully clothed with her eyes shut on a couch. How scandalous! Miss thang reported my friend to HR and now my friend is having trouble staying alert and awake at her desk in the afternoon.

I feel like there is an overpopulated middle-management in companies these days. People whose sole job is to make sure that the other workers are getting their jobs done efficiently. Company owners want to make sure they are getting their money's worth. I have an idea to save you money. Fire these blowhard paper pushers. They are spending your money on bullshit surveys and paperwork anyways. Spend a few extra bucks on comfortable chairs, and allow your workers five minutes of personal time a day and you would be surprised how much money you would save in the long run.
